Cycling in another world
Discover and experience the immediate environment of “Het Verscholen Dorp” from your bicycle. You can cycle straight into the forest from “Het Verscholen Dorp” where there are many cycle routes that you can take. Alongside “Aqua Horst” you will find a path with special sightseeing attractions, which is a very attractive and varied route along the nicest places in the area.
These lovely cycle routes will take you to the beautiful Zuider Zee town of Harderwijk and the village centres of Ermelo and Putten after a short ride. You can determine your own route based on your own speed and, naturally, you can decide where to stop. You are guaranteed peace and space while underway and you will pass superb beauty spots away from the big roads. While cycling you may unexpectedly come eye-to-eye with the local wildlife or a flock of sheep. Harderwijk is an old Hansa town located next to the Veluwe lake and the Wolderwijd. A lot of the history of fishing can still be seen in the many monuments and the Stadsmuseum Harderwijk (Harderwijk Town Museum). Putten equals beautiful scenery. It borders onto thousands of hectares of forest and is a much-loved place by people who come in search of recreation. Ermelo literally means “eeuwenoud” in Dutch, which is our word for “centuries-old”. The prehistoric barrows are witness of this. Activities such as open-air games, covered wagon trips and, of course, cycling tours abound in the summer months in Ermelo.
You can determine the length of the route and the area. You can find descriptions of different cycling routes at the reception of “Het Verscholen Dorp”. Did you not bring your own bicycle? Not a problem! You can rent lady’s, men’s and even children bicycles at “Het Verscholen Dorp”.
